PIllow Fight: A Documentation

So, back last semester I was asked to help document a final project for a couple friends. I gladly accepted, and with the help of Paul AKA Wolf T Flywheel, we documented what was probably the best possible way to end off a semester. I had a lot of fun with this, and I'm now finally ready to post some of my roughly edited work.

By the way, I do have valid reason for some of my photos being a little out of focus. During the fight, there were no lights, and it was pretty much blind firing while trying to catch my breath. I spent that time hiding from most of the crossfire in the doorway of the bathroom shooting as much as I could. That was such a fun night. :)

Gigantic thank you to Jeff and Chris for inviting me and Paul along. One of the most memorable experiences I've had at Ringling. If you guys need anything else image-wise let me know. I'll also be happy to help you out in the future.

Studio Lighting: Final Portfolio

So it's turned in, and I assume it's graded by now. I don't get my prints back until next semester, but I do feel safe posting these now (with watermarks as usual). Here's my 6 final images for my studio lighting Final.

Artist Statement:
My work is a series of still life photographs showcasing mundane objects forming architectural-like design with red strings. The work deals with creating dynamism in normally very still objects and the elements o a technical perspective drawing brought into a three-dimensional setting. By bringing these everyday objects into the spotlight, it takes them out of the thrift stores and closets, and into a plain unavoidable view.

The majority of the objects were purchased at a local second hand store. I ended up leaning towards items used for storage in some sense. These items ranged from suitcases and baskets to dish and spice racks. In order to further distance the items form any usage by their original owners, the objects were photographed without any people or human interaction. My final pieces showcase a combination of my passions for still life and perspective drawing.

Digital Paint Smears

So I did this little piece a couple of weeks ago, and I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out for what it's worth. I don't do a whole lot of digital painting, and this time I think I actually got the hang of it. This is Adam (as if it isn't already obvious)

Ermagwawd, I wish the interwebs could handle Adobe RGB 1998. Enlarging might show true colors...?

In any case, this may not look like much, but it will look a lot better when you look at my original sketchup for this painting when I started.

YEAH.

Right, well new stuff will be up soonish.

Creative Geometry - Fractal Trees

These be trees. And Fractals. AT THE SAME TIME.

16" x 20", Acrylic on canvas

I should prolly take another slide of this at some point...

Anyway...yeah. More Creative Geometry to come in the near future, will post photo works soon since midterm grades are in and all that jazz :D

Also, interwebs fail with the desaturation :(

Creative Geometry - Golden Proportion and 4th Dimension

Hey there!

Sorry for the lack of updates over summer (and the lack of work for that matter). I did have one other piece I worked on over the summer, and that will show up here over the winter when I go back and get a chance to shoot it. Unfortunately my life was temporarily taken over by working in a Neurobiology lab while I was back in IL. I've since made my return to Sarasota, and I'm well into the swing of classes. I'll be posting my Studio lighting and Art and Sci. of Color work soon, along with some of my other randomness. For now, you get my paintings for my math class :P

Let me explain this now: Creative Geometry is not really a regular math class. The way the class works is as such: we do paperwork type stuff in class. Y'know, packets all that jazz.

Now, outside of class we have projects to work on, in any medium that we wish to work in. I chose to go with painting exclusively for now. I need to keep up with it somehow, and it helps to have a little outlet in a liberal arts while I wait to start my overload elective next semester :D But yeah, keeps me fresh and lets me do something other than photography.

So, here's Golden Proportion (the magical proportion that shows its head all over the place)

15" x 30", gesso transferred laser paper on canvas, acrylic over top. Surprisingly, the colors aren't too far off of how they do normally. I need to fix it up and re-shoot it anyway. :/

And here's 4th dimension, where time is being shown as the 4th dimension

That means don't steal my work, don't use my work, and don't post it anywhere else without my explicit permission please.
